![]() Today, I want to share a vulnerable experience that unfolded at work recently—a moment when I found myself triggered by a seemingly harmless, friendly roast session. It's important for me to be authentic and open with you, as we all face moments of vulnerability and growth. So, grab a cup of tea, and let's dive into this journey together. Setting the Stage: After three days on a liquid diet and enduring a scorching heat wave, my emotional resilience was put to the test when my coworkers unintentionally hurt my feelings with their roast session. Normally, I can gracefully move through such situations, but on this particular day, it got to me. As my coworkers left, I tried to shake off the feelings and thoughts, but somehow, I found myself identifying with a few of their remarks, and suddenly, I felt down about myself. Moving in an old wound, that was not something they needed to manage. Unraveling the Emotions: This triggering experience was no longer just a reminder that I am not defined by others' perceptions; it became a portal into a darker and deeper space within myself. It illuminated unresolved wounds and unhealed aspects that were yearning for further liberation from my energetic field. It was an invitation to delve even deeper into my healing journey and embrace the opportunity for profound growth. Deep down, I knew my coworkers didn't mean to hurt my feelings, and this experience was merely shining a light on something within myself that needed attention and healing. Embracing the Shadows with Compassion: As I processed the situation with my coworkers, I approached it with a profound sense of compassion and self-awareness. Instead of spiraling into self-doubt or victimhood, I recognized that the triggering incident was merely that reflection of the belief system I was still liberating from. It was an invitation to meet these shadows with love and understanding, knowing that they held valuable lessons and gifts for my continued evolution. Choosing Authenticity and Growth: I realized that I could have chosen to remain silent and drive away without talking it over. However, in that triggering moment, I longed to be heard—a reaction I wouldn't have had in previous versions of myself. Despite my upset state, I managed to maintain my authentic voice, expressing my feelings without turning into a cartoon character, I stayed grounded. In the past, such experiences would have consumed me, reinforcing the false narratives that I had internalized. But my commitment to healing work has brought me to a place of strength and resilience. Through introspection and deep inner work, I have cultivated the tools and awareness to navigate triggers with compassion and self-empowerment. I didn't stay in a state where I succumbed to the patterns of internalizing what I felt were hurtful comments or seeking external validation to validate my worth. I didn't make my co-workers villains in plot to bring down my shine. Nurturing the Inner Child: Recognizing that my inner child needed some tender love and care, I decided to take her to see the new Little Mermaid after dinner. It was a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with the innocence and joy within me, reminding myself that I am deserving of love and acceptance, just as I am. Free from the false belief that being 'abnormal' is a bad thing. Embracing all the quirkiness that lives inside of me, is how I forged the path I walk on now. Life is a journey of growth, filled with ups and downs, triggers, and moments of self-discovery. The triggering incident at work served as a catalyst for further transformation, shining a light on the depths of my being that were ready to be released. It reminded me that growth isn't always linear, but rather a continuous process of learning and alchemizing our past wounds into strength and love. We have the power to rewrite our stories, to alchemize our pain, and to celebrate the growth we encounter along the way. It was a powerful reminder of my capacity to heal, transform, and embrace my authentic self. As I continue on this path, I invite you to join me in embracing your own healing journey and stepping into the liberation that awaits you.
